AIRBIOPF Congratulates FM – Nirmala Sitharaman

We welcome the entry of Nirmala Sitharaman, a member of the Rajya Sabha, into North Block as the first full time woman Finance Minister and congratulate her for the new role entrusted to her.
Now, She is at the helm of one of the most crucial and important ministries.

Nirmala Sitharaman has taken charge at a crucial juncture. Indian economy faces several challenges, such as, economic slowdown, rise in fiscal deficit , global uncertainties, and rising unemployment. We have full faith in her capabilities. With her experience in the finance and commerce and industry ministries, we are confident that she will tackle the issues keeping in view the larger interest of the nation.

We expect that Sitharaman will work closely with regulators like the Reserve Bank of India to resolve crisis in the financial sector and to find an effective solution for NPAs in the banking sector .

As retirees’ forum we wish to apprise her about the continuous and decade long demand of one time option for pension to about 2600 RBI retirees (PF optees). Subordinate Legislature Committee had recommended that the issue ought to be under the domain of RBI Management. The Ministry for Finance was seized of the matter and we understand that approval was about to be granted . But as model code of conduct was enforced, the final orders were withheld.

The forum now urges upon her to look into the matter personally and direct the ministry to expedite the long awaited approval .
